By Mikhail B. “…Lobster 6, lobster 7, Let’s all go to lobster heaven…” Orange House has definitely had the most awesome Corporate Tour of CANJAC 2003. Top marine biologist from Clearwater Inc. came in to educate us about Lobsters in their public campaign known as “Lobster University.” So basically we were the only CANJAC delegates whom left CANJAC with a degree. Trying not to aggravate the bus driver on the journey, we arrived at Bedford here in to the Clearwater Lobster Storage facility. We were able to hold live Lobsters, help sort and grade them according to their quality, and some people even felt sympathetic to the lower grade Lobsters – wanting to adopt them for themselves. We saw a Lobster, ¾ of a century old, which weighed 9 pounds, and we all wish for the resilience that the Lobster showcased when being shown to us. (continue on page 2) ORANGE HOUSE C H E E R S !! My back is breakin’, my belts too tight, my hips are shakin’ from left to right. HUH! ORANGE! Our house has got the power. We said it. We meant it. We’re here to represent it. ooOORANGE!! By Peter G. 2. (continue from page 1) We also were shown a sort of Lobster Spa – where Lobsters where placed for short periods of time (24-48 hrs) to be relaxed and de-stressed before they where shipped. Exhibiting their creativity and modernized way of business we were given view of they’re new DryLand Storage Facilities, where Lobsters could be stored all year round, so that revenue could be brought into the company all year long. Lunch was excellent – we chose from a wide variety of drinks also, which aided us, especially in a cracker – eating contest. But, sadly, no one won! • “Thanks for the wonderful time at CANJAC everyone!” • Kevin T. • Alberta • “I really enjoyed everything about CANJAC considering this was my first time. My favorite was the dance, those Bahamians are tha BOMB!!” • Shariffa C. • Cayman Island • “When I was thanking Mr. De Mello, I said ‘summit’ instead of ‘conference’. I’m sorry! I get tense sometimes and forget things! Anyway, its been a BLAST and I’ve had nothing but good times. It’s been a pleasure getting to know all of you and sincerely hope that we keep in touch … especially you.” • Peter G. • New Brunswick • “We started off as a bunch of Gr. A oranges, and now became one bright, strong, shinning orange tree.” • Derek C. • -Ontario • “This week was so much fun. I hope everyone enjoyed Halifax!” • - Sara R. • Nova Scotia • “ Thanks for all the memories, it has been unforgettable…and tiring!” • - Nicole D. • Ontario • “I would have to say that JA has been a great experience!!!!” • - Elizabeth G. • New Brunswick In order to thank our Clearwater, we have created a song as a token of appreciation.
