  2. Orthacanthus • This shark lived 260 million years ago • Lived in freshwater swamps and bayous in Europe and North America • Eel-like body that is 10 feet long and has powerful jaws that are lined with double-fanged teeth • Ate small horned amphibians

  3. Echinochimaera • Lived 350 million years ago • Less than 1 foot in length • Lived in Serpukhovian (Upper Mississippian ) • Rabbit like snout • Spikes were used to defend itself from predators

  4. Helicoprion • Lived 250 years ago • Each tooth is larger than the last • 10 feet long • Tooth structure made to injure its prey • The group it belongs to had “buzz saw” like teeth

  5. Hybodus • Lived 180 million years ago • One of the most common sharks during the dinosaur age • This shark is usually 6-foot long • Lived in the sea alongside the ichtyosaurs and plesiosaurs
