  1. Part 3 Unanswerable questions?

  2. Question 3 “If the water pipes broke and the baptistry was bone dry, would my salvation have to wait until the plumber showed up? If I were to die before then, would I go to hell? If obedience to water baptism is the means of forgiveness of sins, then I would.”

  3. Let’s follow this path back a bit. If the PA system broke and I couldn’t hear a word, would my salvation have to wait until the electrician showed up? If I were to die before then, would I go to hell? If faith in Christ is the means of forgiveness of sins, then I would. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  4. Let’s follow this path back a bit. If the preacher had laryngitis and I couldn’t read, would my salvation have to wait until another preacher showed up? If I were to die before then, would I go to hell? If faith in Christ is the means of forgiveness of sins, then I would. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  5. What about membership in a Baptist Church? “If the water pipes broke and the baptistry was bone dry, would my membership in the Baptist Church have to wait until the plumber showed up? If I were to die before then, would I go to hell? If obedience to water baptism is the means of entry into the Baptist Church, then I would.” Ephesians 5:23, 1:22-23, Galatians 3:27, Acts 20:28

  6. What about this? Since Paul said we are "all baptized into one body," if the water pipes broke and the baptistry was bone dry, would my membership in the body of Christ have to wait until the plumber showed up (1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 5:23)? Since Jesus "is the Savior of the body," and we are "baptized into one body," If I were to die before the plumber got there would I go to hell? Since obedience to God in being baptized into the body of Christ "for the remission of sins" is essential, then I would indeed be lost (Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38; 1 Cor. 12:13; Ephesians 5:23-26- "with the washing of water by the word").

  7. Did they make excuses in the NT? Acts 8:26-39, Acts 16:25-34 All the hypotheticals don’t change what the word of God teaches.

  8. Question 4 “If my past sins are forgiven when I am baptized in water, and it is possible for me to "lose my salvation" and go to hell after being baptized, then wouldn't my best chance of going to heaven be to drown in the baptistry?!! - before I had a chance to sin so as to be lost again? If I wanted to be absolutely sure of heaven, isn't that my best opportunity?”

  9. There is no “if.” • Acts 2:38 No citation of Scripture, only hypothetical situations which he believes undermine the authority of what the Lord says. • Acts 22:16 And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’ • Ephesians 5:26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,

  11. There is no “if.” • Hebrews 3:12-14 • Hebrews 10:23-31 • 2 Peter 1:5-11, 2:20-22 • 1 Corinthians 9:24-10:12 • Galatians 5:4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

  12. Obey the gospel tonight? • Believe – John 8:24 • Repent – Luke 13:3 • Confess – Matthew 10:32-33 • Be Baptized – Mark 16:16 • Be Faithful – Revelation 2:10
