  11. Carefully scraping the surface of the joint

  12. The more flexible putty knife worked well here.

  13. Careful so you don’t damage the deck gelcoat. Wipe with alcohol for final clean up.

  16. alcohol seems to dissolve the bedding compound without being too toxic

  17. Some of the corrosion “tunneled” and took more determined digging to get out.

  19. about 4 screws were removed at a time and big screwdrivers used to hold the joint open

  20. notice I am making sure to get both the top and bottom surfaces

  21. then wiped with alcohol soaked rag and allowed to dry

  22. let there be light (and a clean joint)

  23. 5200 is injected into the gap and screws re-installed before continuing down the line

  24. squeeze out

  25. rail treated painted and going back into place

  26. It takes two to get this done one to push into place while the other installs screws

  27. last one is the hardest
