Temporary pleasure followed by consequences • Physical consequences • Emotional consequences • Spiritual consequences John 8:34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. Romans 6:16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?

  7. Allowing for excuses • I can’t help it. • It’s not that big of a deal. Romans 6:23a For the wages of sin is death,… 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Resist the devil and he will flee from you. • Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
