      • Different ways to learn them.
      • The importance of feedback in learning skills.
      • The stages of learning.

What is a skill?
  • A skill describes the purpose of linked sequences of movement.
  • An example of a skill is shooting in basketball.
what is a technique
What is a technique?
  • A technique describes the way a skill is performed.
  • Examples of shooting techniques in basketball are lay-up, set shot, jump shot and slam dunk.

  • Open Skills change dependant on the actions of an opponent.
  • Discreet are skills which have a definitive start and end point.
  • Continuous skills have no clear start and end point.

  • Subroutines are the small parts (movements) that make up a skill.

  • Choose a skill from gymnastics and give two techniques for performing the skill.
  • Are the techniques easy or complex? Give reasons for your answer.
  • Describe how you gathered data on your gymnastic performance.
  • List two strengths and two weaknesses you found.
