  1. Shax Engineering, Inc. An Outline of PCB Manufacturing Procedure

  2. All electrical devices comprise of internal circuit boards, more specifically the printed circuit boards (PCBs). PCB is the mechanical component of an electrical product that supports and connects the electrical components of the device electrically by using conductive tracks, pas and other features carved from copper sheets. • The copper sheets are laminated on a non-conductive substrate. To manufacture a PCB, you require components like resistors, capacitors and active devices that are usually welded on the PCB.

  3. There are many types of PCBs available in the market and each type offers a specific range of capabilities. Here, we are listing some most common type of PCBs.

  4. Single Sided PCB This is the cheapest and simplest type of circuit boards coming with a single layer of copper on a rigid base material. Such PCB includes solder resist and idents. These are ideal for use through hole and surface mount components.

  5. Double Sided PCB Here two copper layers are pasted on a rigid base material in a double sided PCB but the copper layers may not be connected with each other or may be connected by a copper plated hole along with solder resist and idents.

  6. Flexible and Flexi-Rigid PCB • Flexible PCB manufacturing is pretty common as this type of PCB is being used widely in place of traditional FR4 in various applications. Flexible PCB comes with the benefits of fixing interconnecting problems, weight plus space reduction and reduced assembly cost.

  7. Multilayer PCB • As the name suggests, multilayer PCB is a circuit board having three or more copper layers. This type of PCB board manufacturing is actually done by adding the desired number of double sided boards (inner boards) together with glue.

  8. Controlled Impedance PCB • This is a special type of printed circuit boards that are used across a vast range of applications to guarantee high signal integrity.

  9. Copper Invar Copper PCB Copper Invar Copper printed circuit boards were invented and introduced to fight the differing coefficient of thermal expansion while bonding very dissimilar materials together. This type of PCB is also used in high temperature conditions to strengthen the printed circuit board and manipulate the expansion. Such PBCs have a layer of invar of nickel containing iron alloy sandwiched between two copper layers. Apart from these, there are other types of PCBs and all PCBs require fabrication service. At Shax Engineering, we offer world class PCB fabrication services to assist our clients in developing technically advanced and complex circuit boards for their final products.
