  1. Hope for a Fool

  2. Is There Hope for a Fool? • “Welcome to the continuing mini-saga of Xerxes and Vashti, Susa’s resident drama king and queen. Our previous segment of Scripture concluded with a plot so think that it became a royal stew.” B. Moore

  3. The Pattern of a Fool • Pride • Boastful words and actions • Destructive Behavior • Controlled by something other that God’s Spirit • Shameful demands • A husband is called to protect his wife, not selfishly expose her

  4. The Peril of a Fool • He Reaps what he Sows • One Sin leads to Another • He loses control • Pain and Disappointment • Can’t discern Poor Counsel • Defeat in Battle

  5. Prospects for a Foolish Man • Can he change? Is there any hope? • Doomed to a downward spiral? • Will this proud man admit he was wrong? • God wants to show grace

  6. The Big Picture: • While God used these unusual events to place a Jewish girl in a strategic position to preserve His people from destruction, it doesn’t make their actions right. • But how refreshing it is to know that somehow God is sovereignly using even those things in our lives as part of His providential plan.

  7. 1 Peter 5.6,10 • Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time. • And may the God of all grace, perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you.
