What is LOKO? • Student RepresentativeAssociation of Campus Leuven • Umbrellaorganization of faculty student unions and student associations at Campus Leuven • Tries to support student life in manyways:- training sessions, subsidies, lendingdepartment, translation service, party hall, lawyerfordeposit cases, …Check out our website: www.loko.be

What is LOKO? • 4 departments:- Social: student representation in student services (housing, alma, …) • Sport: student representation in sport center, sport events • Culture: student representation in cultural offer, cultural events • International: student representation in international policy, intercultural events andinternationalizing student organizations • General: big activitiesfor all students

Faculty student unions • Representationofstudents at the faculty: contact international responsibleto get to knowyourfaculty or to help youwithproblems • Course service: sell courses at the cheapestprice. Always check out the course service beforeyou go somewhereelse. Map of all the course services. • Activities: social events, cultural events, academic events, career events, intercultural events,parties and cantus. • Socialhangout spots, specificforeachfaculty • Sports: ifbcompetitionand more. More info. • - Allorganizedbystudent volunteers

  9. Fakbars • Faculty bar: students only. Show your student card. • Also run by faculty unions -> student volunteers • Good to know about Fakbars: • you have to serve yourself by going to the bar and ask for your drinks • Glasses cost money, they get stolen a lot: deposit for beer glasses • You can’t leave the bar with drinks, stewards will ask you to leave your glass /cup inside • Stewards are mandatory, they are volunteers. Horrible job, don’t make it too hard for them • Sometimes they sell coupons (this also happens on parties) for drinks

  10. Cantus • An event thatinvolvessinging, bounding and also beer. Typical student culture . Askyourunionaboutwhentheyorganizeone. It’s anawesomeexperience! • Tips tosurvive a cantus: • Follow the rules (askforaninitiation or a buddy to help youunderstand the cantus principles) • Though ad fundum is a suggestion, notanobligation • Knowyourlimits, drinking alcohol isn’tmandatory, water is accepted

International student associations Two types: - thematic:E.g.: KIB (international affairs), ELSA (European Law Student Association), ESN (Erasmus Student Network), Janus International Theater, PhD Society, … - Cultural:E.g.: CSAL (Chinese Student Association), IMSAL (Interantional Muslim Assiocation), ….
