  1. Pre-CM33 schedule planningSuperMICO meeting, June 6th Motivation: For all of us to understand the main drivers behind the top-level MICE schedule So that there are no surprises at the Collaboration meeting So that we can give a coherent story to the MPB, UK OsC and the FAC Useful meeting, good participation, thanks everybody Main points for schedule construction follow:

  2. Spectrometer solenoids SS#1 will arrive at RAL first week of August Will be shipped without CCRs or vacuum gear fitted Shipping company will provide weight and C of G Support structure (UK) due mid-July Virostek plate mock-up making good progress, but we have to clarify expected positional accuracy, is it 1mm or 10mm? – open issue Shipping of SS#1 & SS#2 is not desirable Shipping mode is being considered now Handling and lifting plans while at RAL are also being worked out

  3. Focus coil Cold mass should be fitted this week Tesla’s date for delivery is 27th June, but have agreed that we take 31st July for the MICE top-level schedule Commissioning schedule when in R9 takes 23 days, need to check this with them Dependent on LHe – Tesla’s responsibility to organise Five Tesla staff attend RAL next Monday, will go through their plans with them Mike Courthold will re-open discussion with DLS on liquid helium supply from their plant Very aware that we need to give CERN magnet group firm dates for attendance

  4. EMR Good progress, delivery still planned for late October Blondel plate due July/August Total forces on the EMR/KL assembly are being studied – Tim needs to be in the loop – open issue Mike & Vicky need to know the magnetic characteristics of the whole EMR/Blondel plate assembly – talk with Franck More detailed presentations from Ruslan & Franck on MICO 190 page

  5. Magnetic field simulation In light of recent revisions to the stray field simulation, we need to know where we can place racks, pumps and compressors – crucial information for Step IV schedule We can probably have a ‘half-way house’ of Step IV compressors downstream along South wall, but shielding at some level will still be required, also shielding for racks on North mezzanine – open issue Vicky will hope to have simulation for above in around ten days, then placement and shielding can be verified and designed/made But for Step VI we will almost certainly have to situate most equipment behind the downstream beamstopper

  6. Diffuser Diffuser assembly is complete and working Air crate and electronics crates need rewiring and new panels Delivery still on target Consensus that we still need to do the quench test as part of the installation, for protection of irreplaceable tracker fibres Tracker Both trackers are ready for use of course, so no real schedule issues here But we need to accurately lay out the tracker installation scenario in the Hall – open issue

  7. Beamline We need a plan for the decay solenoid QP and PSU upgrade installation for Step IV – Mike & Brian report to Alan G – open issue TOF1, or a model of, can now be checked in the real TOF cage installed in R9 – Maurizio visiting this week A fully updated target assembly will be installed for Step IV Hydrogen system Helium tests were complete success Now mostly held up with internal safety and admin negotiations Looks like we can converge on July 2ndto start R&D tests Then 23 days of work

  8. Actions and general comments Alan and Andy will incorporate this information in the top level schedule in time for before CM33 Important point: When the SS is on the ship/plane and the FC is on the truck, we will be making a new schedule! The key to planning our work is to be flexible and to bring forward activities where necessary – this has worked very well so far The MPB has asked for a resource loaded project plan for all of MICE by October – WBS redefinition is first step, Andy will start discussions at CM
