Redistricting processCRITERIA HIGHER • Socio-Economic Balance A balanced socio-economic condition for all school attendance areas will exist that is representative of the entire community. • Enrollment Balance & Future Growth Considerations Enrollment will be balanced among all elementary schools. Boundaries will be established that anticipate residential growth and economic trends throughout the community. • Maintain Neighborhoods and Subdivisions Boundaries will be structured to maintain district subdivisions within one school attendance boundary. • Transportation Distance and Safety Students will be organized in attendance boundaries such that transportation distance is minimized, and so that the safety and health of students is prioritized. • Minimal Attendance Area Changes The number of students that change schools will be minimized. Redistricting processSOCIOECONOMIC BALANCE CURRENT RECOMMENDED SCENARIO • 39% range between elementary school with highest and lowest free/reduced lunch percentages • 170 student difference between elementary school with highest/lowest number of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch 21.6% range between elementary school with highest and lowest free/reduced lunch percentages (45% reduction) 97 student difference between elementary school with highest/lowest number of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch (43% reduction)

Redistricting processMaintain Neighborhoods and Subdivisions CURRENT RECOMMENDED SCENARIO • Of 1221 subdivisions identified by county GIS data, 278 are split by current elementary school boundaries Of 1221 subdivisions identified by county GIS data, 272 are split by current elementary school boundaries Utilized public feedback to address split neighborhood concerns (i.e. Wildwood, Ashford Manor, Wildwood West, Coves, etc.)

Redistricting processTransportation Distance and Safety CURRENT RECOMMENDED SCENARIO • Average student distance from assigned school is 1.2 miles • The number of students who live within 1.0 mile of their school is 55.6% Average student distance from assigned school is 1.0 miles (17% reduction) The number of students who live within 1.0 mile of their school is 62.3% (12% increase)

  11. Redistricting processMinimal Attendance Area Changes CURRENT RECOMMENDED SCENARIO 4,594 students are currently enrolled in 9 schools 1,548 of 4,594 students will change schools, with 33% attending Tiffany Ridge

  12. Committee Recommendation • It is recommended that the Park Hill Board of Education approve the elementary attendance boundaries as presented by the redistricting committee effective for the 2012-2013 school year and also recommending the option for incoming 5th graders to attend their current school without district transportations services.
