The Antioch Unified School District, led by Director of Nutrition Services Stephanie Regal, has secured a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grant for two elementary schools: Belshaw Elementary ($34,650) and Fremont Elementary ($29,550). Together, they serve nearly 1,300 students, with over half qualifying for free or reduced meals. The initiative includes packing produce for classroom snacks, promoting healthy eating discussions, and offering salad bars and fresh fruit cups. This program aims to enhance nutrition education and increase fruit and vegetable consumption among students.
