  6. Standards-Based Journals • Standards-Based Journals are used in all main subject areas. • Each subject needs its own journal. • Journals are a tool used to uncover standards being taught. • Journals may go home for studying but must return to school the next day.

  7. Class work • All graded class work will be completed during class time. • Morning Work should only be completed in class unless the student is absent. We keep this in class until it is completed. • Unfinished practice/class work will become homework.

  8. Tests • All test dates will be determined by each teacher based on student readiness. • Exact dates are not always given to avoid cramming. • All testing content will be located within your child’s journals. Assessments are created based on the standards and activities found in theses journals. • The best way to prepare for assessments is to read through journals every night.

  9. Learning Extensions with Canvas • Each teacher has a Canvas page with links to various educational opportunities and learning sites. • Students also have their own Canvas page which will be linked to their teacher’s pages. • In the event of inclement weather, we will have assignments on Canvas to continue our learning. • To log-in, students just need to enter their computer log-in’s:User Name: Student ID numberPassword: first, middle, last initial, birth month, birthday. 12. Homework • Students are expected to read and log at least 25+ minutes nightly and review their journals. • Students needing extra practice could be assigned additional homework.

  13. Behavior • Classroom rules/ procedures • Social Contracts created by students • PBIS (Cafeteria, Bus, Lunchroom, Hallways, Playground, Bathroom) • Clip Chart / Class Dojo • Consistent behavior/work issues will result in parent notification and/or office referrals.

  14. Transportation • Any transportation changes must be written and sent to your child’s teacher. • We may NOT accept Class DOJO, e-mails, or any other electronic forms of communication. • In case of an emergency or mid-day change, you will need to contact the front office.

  15. Thank you for your support at home, in making this a highly successful year in fourth grade! • Check messages and attachments on Class Dojo and/or emails. • Encourage at home reading, review of journals, and completion of any home assignments. • Keep communication with us open: Let us know if you need help in supporting your student’s educational needs at home.
