What is a BMI?

BMI stands for ‘Body Mass Index’. It is a way for people to be scientifically certified as a weight group. You can be either underweight, average, overweight or obese. Either way, it means that you can be easily grouped.

BMI is calculated by using this equation:

Weight in KG / Height in Metres²

Calories are a unit of energy that burn to produce heat and energy in your body

On average, men need 2500 calories, and women need 2000

Here are examples of exercises and their caloric values after one hour:

Walking a moderate pace= 195cal

Walking a dog= 177cal

Swimming leisurely= 354cal

General aerobics= 384cal

Slow Ballroom Dancing= 325cal

General Housework= 207cal

Bathing a dog= 207cal

Playing a guitar= 177cal

Taking out rubbish= 177cal

To maintain a healthy diet, you have to include foods from the 5 groups into your meals: Fruits and vegetables, Bread, Milk, Fats, Meat and Fish.

In addition to these 5 necessary factors, we all need to eat at least 5 fruit and vegetables every day
