  1. Vassar College Counseling Service invites faculty, administrators and staff to join us for a presentation on suicide prevention When and Where: Friday, January 25th, at 12:00pm in the Aula. What: QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is an empirically validated approach to reducing the risk of suicides. In this hour-long training, you will be trained as a "gatekeeper", an important part of helping our students stay safe. • Come and learn to recognize the warning signs of suicide and how to apply three simple steps that may save a life. Presented by a certified instructor, each QPR training includes information about: • the problem of suicide nationally and in New York State • common myths and facts associated with suicide • warning signs of suicide • tips for asking about suicidal thinking • methods for persuading suicidal individuals to get help • ways of referring at risk people to local resources Please RSVP by Wednesday, January 23rd to counseling@vassar.edu. Be sure to include your name and the names of other members of your party who will be in attendance. The presentation is free of charge and space is limited.
