  2. Why We Chose This Design We decided on this type of launcher because we thought it would be the easiest way to recreate each shot. Also the tools were just back at our home town and would be easy to get our hands on. All of the materials that we used were purchased at the local hardware store aside from some of the steel.

  3. Construction • Everything was build mostly with steel, welded together. Everything was measured out to make it precise. The threaded rod would help us to center the hammer and make it adjustable for the future. • The biggest trouble that we had to overcome was a mechanism to hold the ping pong ball. We tried a tee as a holder but this made for inaccurate shots.

  4. Testing • After completing the launcher we made some test shots on our meter high wall. We used a similar bucket to catch the ball. • The first couple of shots were off but we just needed slight adjustments. • We started to make them one after another and the project was a success. We continued to paint it so it didn’t look too raw.

  5. Back At School • We did some tests in the lab and here are our results. The last column is the test shots back at our home town. • At home the shots were a little off but back at school we had some better results.
