  1. Issues from GDB John Gordon, STFC MB F2F meeting @CERN June 8h 2010

  2. Main Topics In May • Storage • Pilot Jobs – SCAS/glexec. • VirtualisationWorking Group • Operational Feedback from the experiments • OSG News • WLCG Workshop & Data Management Jamboree

  3. Storage • Don’t let Jamboree divert attention fro current issues • FTS Channel Management • Xrootd protocol string • dcache update rejected.

  4. Pilot Jobs – SCAS/glexec. • Milestone for Tier1s to deploy glexec by end of May • Addressed today • Will explore further tomorrow • Nagios tests exist.

  5. VirtualisationWorking Group • Finally held a Face to face meeting. • Work underway on Policies, Generation, Transmission, Storage, Contextualisation

  6. Summary • A year ago, sites were rejecting any possibility of running remotely generated virtual machine images. • Today, we have the skeleton of a scheme that will enable sites to treat trusted VM images exactly as normal worker nodes. • This enables • VOs to be 100% sure of the worker node environment • (potentially) inclusion in the VM image of the pilot job framework enabling “cloud like” submission of work to sites. • Active involvement of VOs is now highly desirable as we move towards delivering a proof-of-concept system. • Nothing in what is being done • prevents sites that wish to do so from implementing Amazon EC2-style instantiation of user generated images, or • precludes use of CERNvm.

  7. Operational Feedback from the experiments • General feeling was that things were working well. • Still many incidents • Few global issues this time across sites or experiments. • It won’t last!

  8. OSG News • Request information on service levels. • Which services have call-out at CERN • Is there security incident call-out?

  9. WLCG Workshop & Data Management Jamboree • Just an excuse to remind people yet again

  10. June GDB • Issues from the Sites • WLCG view of EGI
