  1. Wondering Which Mattress Size Suite You? Read On To Find Out! Are you feeling cramped in your mattress? Are your feets dangling out of the mattress? Are you and your partner not getting the right quality of sleep? Then you are sleeping on a bed that is not the right size or quality. Read below to know more about the various sizes that can make the best mattress for your bedroom: Dimensions of the Various Mattresses A mattress is a sleep aid that you spend most part of your life on, and hence apart from comfort, size also matters as it helps sleep freely at night. A few considerations to make are:

  2. Length: The bed should be such that it can accommodate your whole body. If a mattress is too short then your feet will hang-over and hence it leads to discomfort. So it should be of the right length. Mattress experts recommend buying a bed that is at least 30 m longer than your height. Width: Side to side measurement should be considered when buying a bed, if it is narrow you may feel restricted and hence unable to sleep as you get cramped. The maximum width recommended for an average individual is at least 90 cm. A king- size memory foam mattress is the best if you are sleeping with a partner as it gives enough space for both to move around and sleep freely. Below is the standard mattress sizes available: Single: Ranging from 72’’ L * 30’’ W to 78’’ L * 42’’ W Diwan: Ranging from 72’’ L * 48’’ W to 78’’ L * 48’’ W Queen: Ranging from 72’’ L * 60’’ W to 78’’ L * 66’’ W King: Ranging from 72’’ L * 70’’ W to 84’’ L * 72’’ W Some mattress manufacturers like Wakefit also make custom sizes so that it helps users customize the length and width based on their requirements. What Size Suits What Rooms? There are some sizes that are ideal for a particular room than others: A single mattress is ideal for your kid’s bedroom or your guest rooms especially if you have limited space. You can opt for a longer size if you are accommodating taller people. A diwan mattress is a multi-purpose size where it is placed in your living room as a couch or in a guest room or entertainment room for sleep as well as lounging. Queen size mattress is ideal for your bedroom and for couples who like to have some space while sleeping. A King-size mattress is a little wider than the queen size and offers enough space to sprawl. The length is the same as that of a queen bed and is ideal for a larger bedroom. Mattress Height The thickness of the mattress is vital when choosing the height of the bed. Ideally, the mattress is about 25 inches from the floor so that your feet reach the floor comfortably when sitting on the edge of the bed. That means you can easily get out and into the bed. A standard mattress is 8 inches in height and even elderly people will not have trouble using them. The other heights that are available are 5 and 6 inches. The use of memory foam along with the high-density foam in the lower years ensures luxury and height. Bedroom Size The most important consideration to make while picking the right mattress size is the amount of space available in your bedroom. If you choose a big bed, ensure that there is enough room to move around. You can push one side of the bed to the wall but it restricts movement to one of the sleepers

  3. which can cause issues later. Having a large bed in a small room makes it look cramped and uninviting. If you choose a bed that is small then there will not be enough space to move around and lead to sleep disturbances. Choosing a small bed for a large room spoils the aesthetics. Consider both the above when choosing the size. The size can be determined by: Note down the dimensions of the bed frame including the headboard and footboard. Use tape to make a footprint of the frame where you plan to place the bed. Check if there is enough space to open any closets or doors or other such. Ensure there is at least 3 feet space on both sides and the foot side so that the room is not cluttered or claustrophobic. If you are thinking of an upgrade you can opt for bed frames that have underneath storage. It not only helps in storage but also removes the need for a closet or a dresser. Having a bigger sleeping space does not hurt as it leads to lesser sleep interruptions provided you are lying down on a comfortable mattress. But the major challenge is to ensure that it fits into the room. But having said that, if you prefer to cuddle then the extra space is not worth it especially if you are looking to cut costs. Follow the mattress size guidelines to determine the right size and the one that fits the room.
