  2. Introduction • The research proposal is a scholastic contract between the researcher and the IRB.

  3. Research proposal addresses 4 Qs • What is the study undertaken ? • Why is it important to study ? • How is the study going to be conducted? • What you think will be the result of the study ?

  4. Title of the projectshould be • Concise • Precise • Informative • Descriptive • Not misleading or unrepresentative • Specific , including Research design and study population if possible • Interesting

  5. Development of a research question • Apply the FINER formula just before reaching the research question stage

  6. Background • Research problem • Literature review • Conceptual or theoretical framework • Rationale of the study • Importance of the study in Qatar • Research Q

  7. Literature review • It is a systematic and critical review of the most important scholarly literature on a particular topic.

  8. Format of a research question

  9. Goals of the study • The ultimate result that you hope to achieve because of your research is the goal.

  10. Objectives • State specific, measurable project objectives.( up to 4)

  11. Methodology • Study area • Study subjects • Study design • Sample size • Sampling technique • Instruments used for data collection • Quality control measures • Data management and analysis plan

  12. Implications of study • On disease control • Go back to the rationale and the objectives of the study to write this section

  13. Areas of integration of research activities • Put in areas which have interacted with you in research ; try to build partnerships in health.

  14. Bibliographic references • Relevant literature references to your study

  15. Consent • Signed informed consent • Verbal consent • Waiver of informed consent

  16. Confidentiality • Anonymity measures

  17. Funding agencies • Pharmaceutical companies, QNRF etc

  18. Required reports • 6 monthly progress reports • Annual report • Application for extension of ethical approval • Final report • Manuscript

  19. Dissemination of results • Journal articles • Departmental meetings • Conferences • Publications • Etc..,

  20. Project Timetable/Time line • Present a timetable for each phase of the project.

  21. Budget • Provide a budget for the project. Use the table or chart to show budgeted items and total cost.

  22. Investigators’ assurance form • With signatures of all researchers

  23. Endorsements for QNRF • List endorsements from individuals or organizations, if available.
