  15. rhinelander– lessons learned • 3 hour POP’s are challenging and should be given lower probabilities even in short range predictions. • A well developed vort-max and its surface circulation will usually spawn one wave of organized showers to the south of the circulation center. Precip amounts are typically a quarter of an inch or less (unless there are convective elements) • Clouds and showers at night will keep temperatures in a narrow range, especially in a site surrounded by water.
