  3. Thinking Like an Entrepreneur Entrepreneurship is a process through which people pursue opportunity, use resources, and initiate change to create value.

  4. Entrepreneurial Mindset? • Problem Solvers • Can anticipate and troubleshoot problems • Looks at problems as opportunities • Networks • Connects with others and builds strategic relationships. • Market Awareness • Can scan the marketplace and assess potential needs and gaps.

  5. Entrepreneurial Mindset? • Low Support Needs • Provides for own needs with little support from others. • Rationale Decision Maker • Has a basis for making effective decisions. • Good Judgment • Can pick the right people to help execute vision.

  6. Internship • In the beginning… • Interview – accept – begin Internship • Friday Seminars • The end…

  7. WIN (Working INitiatives) • Classroom instruction + job instruction • Emphasis on student’s education and employability skills

Service Learning …an intentional process of teaching and experiential learning that uses hands-on service and reflective thinking to provide richness and meaning to service experiences • Identify a need in the community • Find a community partner • Plan & implement a project with your community partner • Present and reflect on the experience

  9. Hatters Helping Hatters • Opportunity to serve within the high school – needs based • Examples: • Tutoring • Working with special needs children • Supporting the TV studio • Assisting with technology • Developing databases • Working in various high school offices • Pass/Fail experience
