  1. What Is The Significance Of Puja In Hinduism? One of the most ancient religions in the world is Hinduism. Known to be in existence for more than 6000 years, there are said to be around 1.2 billion Hindus across the globe. One very important part of worship in Hinduism is doing puja. Puja is nothing but a manner of praying where you chant the lord’s name with concentration and try to spiritually connect with them. This puja involves giving a little bit of offerings in terms of sweets or meals that are called at bhog and this is then distributed among other devotees and it is then called the prashad, which means the food that has blessings of the lord. Every puja I different. This different comes with the difference in culture, the deity that is being worshipped or the requirement or the time of the day as well. For example, the regular puja that is done in the morning, at the start of the day is a little elaborate sometimes and it is very different from the puja that is done in the evening. The puja that is done for someone’s birthday will be different from the puja that is being done in order to do away with the dosh which is known as the kaal sarp dosh puja. Every puja, hence, has its own significance and has its own set of mantras, which are told by the guruji or the pundit who guides you in this puja. Conducting a puja at home or even at the temple definitely leaves you feeling a lot more positive and good from the inside. If you happen to visit Somnath temple, which is a Gujarat famous temple and chant Lord Shiva’s name with closed eyes and concentration, you are sure to feel an unexplainable kind of peace from within and also feel calm. It does not matter how much of donation or how much of preparation you do for the puja, or what you offer to the god. What truly matters is your true devotion and intention behind doing the puja. With the world being hit by the pandemic, it became a little difficult for devotees to visit their favourite temples or even host a puja at their place since the pandits too could not come home. To tackle this problem, some online platforms came up with the idea of and also promoted the online puja services. In this, you do not have to be physically present at the temple or wherever the puja is happening. You can make the donation or give dakshina in your name and specify what the intend of doing the puja is. They arrange qualified pandits to carry out this puja. Some times there is an option to view this puja on a video conference call as well. Online puja services have made it possible for devotees around the world to be able to offer their prayers and their services to the deity that they worship, from anywhere in the world that they are. It is very convenient and a simple process too, hence no hassle.
