I-9 Compliance Update Guide for Employers: Employee Engagement & Verification Process

Stay compliant with I-9 regulations. Employees must complete Section 1 electronically before the first day of work. Employers are responsible for reviewing and verifying Section 2 within 3 business days of employment. The I-9 approver can modify information but not after the hire date.   2. Employee • Must Complete and Electronically Sign Section 1 • No Later than First Day of Employment

  3. Employer Review and Verification • I- 9 Approver Must Complete and Electronically Approve Section 2 • Within 3 Business Days of Employee’s First Day of Employment Pre-filled from Hiring Request I-9 Approver May Modify Captures 1st Electronic I-9 Approval Date

  4. I-9 Signature Date After Hire Date • Hire Date • Cannot be Modified if the I-9 Employee Sign Date is After the Hire Date

  5. Employee’s Actual Start Date Delayed • I-9 Start Date May be Changed if the Actual Start Date is Delayed • A Message will Appear to Immediately Contact Systems Control

  6. I-9 Non-Compliance

  7. Late I-9 Submission • Non-Compliance Acknowledgement

  8. Academic Faculty & Graduate Asst/Assoc • Contract Rate Adjustments will Continue • Hire Date will be Equivalent to I-9 Employee Sign Date
