The life of Richard Strauss • Richard Strauss was born June11, 1864 in Munich, Germany. • His father’s name was Franz Joseph Strauss and his mother’s name was Josepha Pschorr. • He was married to Pauline de Ahna. • They had one child named Franz Strauss. • He died September 8, 1949 in Garmisch, Germany. • This is a picture of Munich, Germany where he was born.

  3. Influences • His father and a friend of his family, Ludwig Thuille, were his main teachers. • He was influenced by the writings of Schopenhauer and Nietzsche and liked Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt.

  4. His work • Richard Strauss mainly did operas, orchestrial, vocal music, concertos, and modern compositions. • Arabella was an opera he wrote. • Aus Italien was an orchestrail piece he wrote. • Allerseelen was vocal music he wrote.

  5. Also Sprach Zarathustra • He got the idea for the song from a book, by Friedrich Nietzsche, with the same name. • It was used as the opening music in 2001: A Space Odyssey. • After being in the movie it was used in a lot of other things. BBC used it while covering the Apollo landings.
