School Direct with MMU 2013-14 • SD developed collaboratively with 14 Lead Schools and members of their alliances • Joint selection and recruitment between MMU and Lead School • A, B, A placement model (more time in school overall) • University time currently shared (with existing PGCE) sessions

  4. School Direct with MMU 2013-14 • Primary PGCE with 60 Masters level credits (120 credits in total-60 practice/60 academic) • Primary SD PGCE is similar to the existing PGCE • Increased payments to schools therefore expectation that schools have greater involvement in training etc

  5. Finances 2013-14 • All trainees pay £9,000 in university fees • In the SD model the University pays approximately £3,000 (per trainee recruited) to the lead school. • The funds to Lead Schools includes payments they make to other schools for the second placement, and all school-based support and training for the trainees.

Why work with MMU on School Direct? • Benefit from our expertise and breadth in ITT; (Ofsted “Outstanding” Initial Teacher Education Provider for Primary and Secondary) • Influence future development of School Direct • Become involved in innovative placement models on primary PGCE and BA • Access continuum of support, development and challenge for trainees, NQTs, RQTS and leaders and managers including M level accreditation • Access wider collaboration; for example research and development, accreditation, CPD (short courses and academic awards in support of school improvement)
