  2. Licensing is the process through which an engineer becomes authorized to practice his profession or to provide his services to the public. The process and authority related to the registration varies greatly around the world. Obtaining Chartered engineer certificate USA is not the same as that of India or of other countries.

  3. USA Since a chartered engineer and ICE member is not a legalized term in USA, the chartered engineer certificate in USA is actually a professional engineer certificate. The requirements for the licensing are – Graduation from an ABET-accredited four year college or university program Completion of standard FE written exam Engineering experience, as may be required by the State (4 years in most states) Completion of a written Principles and Practice in Engineering exam

India While graduates and post graduates in engineering and technology can practice as consulting engineers in India, to submit a design or public plan, they need to be registered with the municipalities. Engineers in India are admitted as corporate or chartered engineers by the Institution of Engineers (IE) To be registered as a professional engineer or an international professional engineer by the institution, engineers must possess seven years of active practical engineering experience

  5. Canada Practice of engineering is protected in Canada and only licensed engineers can use the title of a professional engineer. The regulation and licensing is carried out by the engineering association of each province. The requirements include – Engineering or applied science graduation accredited by CEAB Completion of engineer-in-training or engineering internship under a professional engineer Review of work experience by the association Passing a professional practice exam

UK In UK, the title of an engineer is not regulated and registers are maintained only for significant persons: The regulatory body in the profession of engineering within UK is the Engineering Council. The national registers cover engineering technicians, incorporated engineers, chartered engineers, and information and communication technology engineers.

  7. Iran The governing body in Iran is the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Requirements for licensing are: Graduation from an accredited college or university, in four year engineering or engineering technology program. Completion of standard FE exam Engineering experience of atleast four years Completion of Principles & Practice in Engineering exam
