Investigating the effects of Foster + Freeman fingerprint treatments on DNA analysis. Independent tests show that PolyCyano UV treatment does not interfere with DNA profiling, while TFD-2 treatment reduces the possibility of recovering DNA for identification. November 2011.

  2. Forensic scientists can use DNA in blood, semen, skin, saliva, hair, or fingerprint residues found at a crime scene to identify a matching DNA of an individual.   3. TFD-2Thermal Fingerprint Developer A simple, low-cost, chemical-free method for fingerprint detection and visualisation. Method Uniform heating of documents causes a chemical reaction between the latent fingerprint and the paper.   10. Conclusions PolyCyano UV treatment does not interfere with DNA profiling with 100% of DNA donors identified from treated samples. TFD-2 treatment interferes with DNA profiling, reducing the possibility of recovering DNA which can be used for identification to 30%.
