General Instructions The participants is expected to have prepared a draft of the Policy* document (see Word template, finalized in the previous regional workshop in 2014) that will provide the framework for the future establishment of the National Strategy* for Education and Training in Radiation, Transport and Waste Safety The draft Policy document has to be provided to the IAEA Secretariat during the workshop. This presentation will provide an overview of such document to all the participants in the workshop. * Note: to have a better understand on what it is meant for policy and strategy, please refer to draft safety report series, specifically to section 2.3 for the policy, and sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 for the strategy)

Information could include: • Presenter’s organization • Short overview/comment on facilities and activities with use of ionizing radiations • Are there future plans to expand applications with use of ionizing radiations (e.g. for in medical field, nuclear power.. )? • General information on the legal and regulatory framework for E&T in radiation protection and safety • are there requirements for education and/or training for Qualified Expert, Radiation Protection Officer’, Workers, Health Professionals (e.g. Medical Physicists)’Regulatory body staff ?

Way Forward Provide an overview about the next steps youwould envisage for the establishment of the policy and strategy on education and training in radiation, transport and waste safety, for example: • Finalization of the Policy document • Involvement of other relevant stakeholders that did not participate in the current exercise to draft the Policy • Approval/endorsement of the final Policy document by a relevant authority/stakeholder • Development of the National Strategy • Supports that can be provided by IAEA to facilitate the establishment of the Policy/Strategy • Add any other future step you consider relevant ………
