Explore the best wildlife on a holiday tour to Seychelles

A Seychelles Holiday Package is incomplete without tasting fish. You will be amazed

experience. From the time human beings started living here, flora and fauna has lived

with perfect harmony with each other. Biodiversity is another name for this island.

Though few of the species became extinct due to the hunting down of few animals but

now the island is home to some of the most wonderful species of the world.

There were many threatened and extinct species that were present in the island but due

to the constant hard work of environmentalists, some of the species have shown a

significant increase in their numbers. Some of them are Seychelles parakeet, the

saltwater crocodile and the Seychelles black terrapin.

Bird lovers and ornithologists will find the place quite interesting as more than 250 bird

species are found here. The atmosphere of the island is such that it suits their

adaptability conditions of all the plant as well as animal species present there. The most

important birds to look out for in this island are the sunbird, the blue pigeon, Scops owl

and frigate birds. Black parrot which is a rare and endangered species is found in the

Praslin Island.

In Bird Island, you will come across seven different species of bird including Sooty

terns and fairy terns. The best time to visit the island is during the month of May as you

can see all the birds together in one place. Cousin Island is another interesting place

which is famous for its eco-tourism. A total of 3,00,000 seabird species reside here.

Seychelles is not only about birds, infact a large number of tortoises and turtles can also

be found here. Aldabra, one of the biggest tortoises in the world is found here. The

animal weighs about 500 pounds and remains on land most of the time. Hence, you can

be the lucky one to see this. The hawksbill sea turtle which is an extremely endangered

species can only be found in the Cousin Island. If you want to see other sea turtles then

you can find them near the Western Indian Ocean.

Lizards and Amphibians are also found in large numbers here. Geckos are a certain

species of lizard that have big lidless eyes and can make a variety of noise. Skinks which

are another type of lizards are also found in large numbers here. In order to view skinks

you can visit the Cousin Island. Moreover, there are 12 types of amphibians that are

found here; out of them the most interesting ones are the Sooglossid frogs. The frogs

are really tiny and measures only 12 mm.
