INFINITIVO (INFINITIVE)The basic form of a verb (action word) undefined by a subject or tense(in Spanish, these end in -ar, -er, and -ir) • escribir = to write • levantar = to lift • abrir = to open • sacar = to take out • necesitar = to need • ser = to be (permanent; names, characteristics, etc.) • estar = to be (temporary; feelings, location, etc.) *The –ar/-er/-ir is like the “to ___” part in an infinitive in English! Shewrites and I like to read. 10
Las farsas de actividades – “Charades” Work in groups of four. Each group needs one of the vocab. lists (p. 46 from the book). 2. Each person takes a turn. He/she picks one of the activities to act out. The other players ask him/her questions – taking a guess – ex. “¿Bailar?” (To dance?) The actor responds with either: “Sí, bailar” or “No, no bailar” 5. The round ends when the correct activity is guessed. Switch players. 10
Me gusta = A mí me gusta Me llamo = Yo me llamo Estoy bien = Yo estoy bien Tengo dos hermanos = Yo tengo dos hermanos Soy gracioso = Yo soy gracioso
Los Gustos To express our likes and dislikes, we will use the verb: ______________________________ This verb really means: _______________________________________________________ Instead of using the subject pronoun “yo” to start to say “I like”, we will use the object pronoun “_____________.” There is a short way to say “I like to ski”, which is: “___________________________________________________.” And a long way, which is: “_______________________________________________________________________.” The word “A” at the beginning of the sentence means: ____________ because remember, that while the interpretation is “I like to ski,” the actual translation is: _________________________________________________________________.
Using object prounouns: me, te, le, nos, les • = it pleases them … = infinitivo (i.e. bailar, correr, escribir)
Usos de me gusta … = infinitivo (i.e. bailar, correr, escribir)
