Sevya is a fair-trade company specializing in sustainable and ethical apparel, scarves, jewelry, and table linens from India. We work with artisan groups in each region of India to create contemporary designs that showcase their fine craft traditions. Sevya is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and is dedicated to preserving the rich cultural traditions of India by supporting its artisan communities. We also offer private label and custom products with fair trade manufacturing, including fine handloom, block-printing, tie-dye, and embroidery crafts.

Each piece is a work of art, and is the culmination of centuries old craft traditions involving many intricate steps, each performed by an artisan who is highly skilled in their craft. SEVYA IS DEDICATED TO PRESERVING THE INDIGENOUS ART FORMS AND CULTURES OF INDIA BY SUPPORTING THE ARTISAN COMMUNITIES WHO UPHOLD THESE TRADITIONS. “ WHERE THERE IS LOVE, THERE IS LIFE ” - MAHATMA GANDHI SEVYA WAS FOUNDED IN 2002, AND IS THE BRAINCHILD OF SWAMI DAYANANDA SARASWATI, A RENOWN TEACHER OF VEDANTA WHO WORKED THROUGHOUT HIS LIFE TO NURTURE A CULTURE OF DHARMA AND CARING THROUGHOUT INDIA. SEVYA IS PROUD TO BE AFFILIATED WITH THE ALL INDIA MOVEMENT FOR SEVA, A REGISTERED 501(C)3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION.   4. Scarves and Wrapes SEVYA'S FAIR TRADE SCARVES SHOWCASE THE RICH TEXTILE ARTS OF INDIA, INCLUDING HAND LOOM, BLOCK PRINTING, TIE DYE (BANDHANI), AND EMBROIDERY. EACH PIECE IS A WORK OF ART AND BLENDS CLASSIC TEXTILE CRAFTS WITH CONTEMPORARY DESIGNS AND COLORS. OUR HANDWOVEN SCARVES ARE MADE ENTIRELY BY HAND, WITHOUT THE USE OF ANY ELECTRICITY, AND WE DRAW FROM THE TRADITIONAL SARI WEAVES SUCH AS JAMDANI AND IKAT WITH FRESH CONTEMPORARY STYLES. WE WORK WITH ARTISAN COOPERATIVES THROUGHOUT INDIA TO INCORPORATE BLENDS OF COTTON, SILK, AND WOOL WITH ECO-FRIENDLY DYES AND CREATE A WIDE RANGE OF WRAPS IN RICH COLORS AND TEXTURES.

OUR FAIR TRADE APPAREL COMES IN A WIDE RANGE OF STYLES AND DESIGNS, RANGING FROM HAND BLOCK-PRINTED KAFTANS TO FINE COTTON TUNICS WITH BEAUTIFUL HAND EMBROIDERY DONE BY WOMEN ARTISANS IN INDIA. THE WOMEN ARE ABLE TO DO THE EMBROIDERY IN THEIR HOMES, IN BETWEEN OTHER HOUSEHOLD WORK. THIS GIVES THEM THE FLEXIBILITY OF EARNING A FAIR TRADE WAGE ON THEIR OWN SCHEDULE, AND THE WOMEN ARE ABLE TO SAVE MONEY FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION AND HEALTH CARE. THE WOMEN ARE HIGHLY SKILLED IN EMBROIDERY AND THE QUALITY IS EVIDENT IN EACH PIECE.
