2. Historical Background August 1830 Newel Knight traveled to visit the Prophet Joseph Smith. Sally Knight and Emma Smith had not yet been confirmed because of persecution. The Knights’ and Smiths and Whitmers wanted to partake of the sacrament together. When Joseph went out to obtain wine for the sacrament, he was met by a heavenly messenger who communicated the revelation now recorded in Doctrine and Covenants 27.

33. Shield Of Faith Do you know how to recognize the Spirit well enough that it has become a weapon or tool in your life? Do you offer sincere prayers every day? Did you honestly fast on the last fast Sunday?

34. Helmet Of Salvation Do you avoid swearing? Do you daydream less than 10% of the time in Seminary? Is your mind free from the effects of pornography? Do you get up and walk out of a room, turn off the TV or at least change channels when inappropriate scenes occur?
