R. • Monitoring and research (SURENDU & coordination/ commissioning of studies, such as the CICAD studies) • Capacity building in primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of alcohol and drug abuse • GREEN Zone ( primary Prevention) • YELLOW Zone ( secondary “) • RED Zone ( tertiary “ )

  5. RAPID Situation Assessment ( 2005) Recommendations from SURENDU network and RSA study reminds us that actions speaks louder than words. The challenges for us in Suriname is to focus on: • Our children (parents to set a good example) • Parents to received drug education • Activities for boys • Focus on people from the interior – creating a culture of seeking assistance and for them to consider alcohol and marihuana to be destructive substances – socially, spiritually, and physically, and to remind them that the liver or lungs lasts longer than the job or the wife!

  6. Thank you!
