  3. About Corn • Water intensive • 22-23 inches annually • A 200-bushel corn crop uses about 600,000 gallons of water • nearly 3,000 gallons per bushel

  4. About Ethanol • As a rule of thumb, water utilization is 10 gallons per minute for each 1 million gallons of yearly ethanol production. • Thus a typical 50 million gallons per year ethanol production facility would need 500 gallons per minute of water • ~720,000 gallons/ day

  11. The question at hand seems to be one of priorities: Is less expensive energy more important then water? Apparently many people are choosing energy over water. I contend that the greater question is: Which can people survive without, energy or water?
