  38. e-STUDIO222CP/262CP Technical Training slide 2 of 7 −Consumables & Options−Image Drums • Image Drum • (e-STUDIO222CP/262CP) locking shutter Blanking LEDs (to prevent ghosting) are mounted in the printer chassis and are used to “reset” the surface of the ID before it is recharged by the Charge Roller. These LEDs are only ON when the IDs are rotating. tubular light guide (for guiding light from blanking LEDs in printer chassis) ID shutter prismatic light guides (for sensing toner levels) - EP Assembly - HOME

  40. e-STUDIO222CP/262CP Technical Training slide 4 of 7 −Consumables & Options−Image Drums • Image Drum (e-STUDIO222CP/262CP) • Toner low detection is achieved using a toner sensor which is mounted inside the printer unit (as part of the chassis, not part of the EP). • Toner low is detected by a sensor which monitors the on/off timing of the light exiting the prismatic light guide. This light emits from the chassis of the printer unit and passes through the prismatic light guide inside the ID. • The rotational behaviour of the plastic shutter (mounted inside the ID assembly) depends on the amount of toner in the ID. • The order of IDs is changed from previous Oki products to deliver a more favourable appearance of colour registration to the human eye. HOME

  41. e-STUDIO222CP/262CP Technical Training slide 5 of 7 −Consumables & Options−Image Drums • Image Drum (e-STUDIO222CP/262CP) • The ID has an individual ID shutter for each of the toner colours. These ID shutters are used together with the toner cartridge shutters to detect whether toner cartridges have been mounted correctly. The check is completed by the toner sensor in the printer chassis. • The following conditions may cause a toner sensor error to be displayed. • toner sensor is dirty (perhaps from a toner spill) • prismatic light guide is dirty (perhaps from a toner spill) • ID unit is not correctly seated • ID unit and the toner sensor are not aligned as expected (this causes the detection to fail) • Chemical characteristics of cyan toner make it the most susceptible to “filming” when it is heated. For this reason, the Cyan ID is positioned as far as possible from the Fuser to lessen its exposure to heat. HOME
