  2. Pattern 1Yes/No Questions • These questions are answered with yes or no.

  3. Yes/No Questions Is this your resumé? Do you know the answer? Did the interviewer accept your resumé? Has the professor asked a question? Notice that these questions are different.

Pattern 2:Information Questions when the answer is the subject of the sentence • When the answer to the question is the subject of the • sentence, you do not use an auxiliaryverb. • What you do is substitute the subject of the sentence • for the question words who or what What was bought at Zara? Her boots were bought at Zara. Whohas painted her fingernails? Ivy Queen has painted her fingernails.

  8. Exercise • She has bought new clothes. • José drives a Jaguar. • They wanted to eat breakfast. • We are driving a new car. • He will be an excellent candidate. • The meeting was scheduled for 2:00 PM. • The boxers had fought well.

  10. Questions Words • Who? To Whom? For Whom? With whom? To whom does she give the gift? For whom is the gift? Who is she? With whom is he talking?

  13. Question Words How many? How much? How much sugar do you you put in your coffee? How much coffee do you drink? How much money does he have? Use how much with things you can’t count. How many shoes? Seven shoes. You use how many when you can count the objects.
