  2. Why is Lohri celebrated with enthusiasm? What is so fun about the festival? Though it is a known festival but for the people who have no clue, Lohri is celebrated because it marks the end of winter season and is believed to welcome the sun to the northern hemisphere. It is celebrated a night before MakarSankranti. The festival is celebrated by Hindus, specially Sikhs. There is a bonfire at night. Family members, friends and neighbors gather around to celebrate the festival.

  3. Nobody is sent empty-handed. Everyone is gifted sweets as a return-gift. There is a Lohri song which is basically a thankyou song to Sun God for providing the heat to the crops for harvests. Dhol is the specialty of the festival. Foods like jaggery, popcorn, sesame seeds and puffed rice are offered in order to fire.
