Telephone survey – general information • Telephone survey in 2006 • Permanent number of telephones is 120,8 thousands or 82% of households have a telephone number • Telephone calls for 1717 households stratified by 10 municipalities • 1265 answers or 64% from the total calls • Two questionnaires: households and cars information • Time of the investigation per person about 5 minutes COST-355 - Meeting in Torino, October 2007

Household’s questions • Households data contains the following information: • size of the household, • number of drivers in the household, • number of employees, • number of unemployed, • number of persons older then 64 years, • number of persons older then 18 years, • age of called person, • education and profession of the investigated person and • number of cars in the household. Car’s questions • Cars data contains the following questions: • first owner or not first owner of the car, • age of the car, • type of the car, • type of fuel, • power of the engine, • fuel consumption, • number of kilometers from the first year of usage, • number of kilometers per year (in the city and outside), • number of trips by car per day, • number of trips by car – motive work, • information about parking habitude and problems, • coefficient of occupation (number of persons in the car) • opinion about car usage in relation with efficiency of PT COST-355 - Meeting in Torino, October 2007

General conclusions • Skopje is a medium town regarding to its population in European scale, but regarding to R.of Macedonia represents the biggest demographical and economical canter. • Compared with similar towns in EU developed countries, household ownership of cars (0,79 car/househ.) in Skopje is on the same level like Lille in France during seventy’s (0,78 car/househ.). • Number of driving licences per household (1,81) is double then the number of cars per household; which means that the degree of motorization potentially could increase. • Most households in Skopje has 1 car (51,5%), the part without car is 36% and the portion of households with 2 and more cars is 12,5%. • Car fleet in Skopje is relatively old (11,8 years) and the oldest cars are with smallest engine power. The average of total km from the first registration of car is 116 000 km. COST-355 - Meeting in Torino, October 2007

General conclusions • Average kilometres per car per year carried out by citizens of Skopje is 10 276 km (±901); about 80% of them are inside the town witch indicates also for inefficiency of quality PT. • The biggest portion of cars in Skopje use gasoline (67%) and the average fuel consumption is 9,0 l/100km. • The highest number of km per year (17 067 km)are carry out by cars with highest engine power (>1800 cc) which participate in total number of cars with 14%. • Average car trips per day is 3,55; percentage of car occupation is 1,9. The biggest No. of trips per day are carried out with cars from the highest class (4,10). COST-355 - Meeting in Torino, October 2007
