  3. Education • She spoke four languages Latin, Italian, Greek and German • Emilie was encouraged by a family friend, name M. de Mezieres to learn mathematics

  4. Relationship • At the age of nineteen she married the thirty-four-year-old Marquis du Chatelet • Emilie closest friend was Voltaire,who was one of most intriguing and brilliant scholars of time • Emilie fell in love with the Marquis de Saint-Lambert

Interesting Facts • Emilie translated Newton entire book on the principals of mathematics into French • The years Emilie spent with Voltaire were some of the most productive years of her life • Voltaire wrote a pome for Emilie called The Divine Émilie • She was tall and clumsy as a child, but was always quick to learn.
