  4. Muharram & Aashura

  5. The Tenth of Muharram, known as the day of Aashura, is a very significant day in the Islamic Calendar. Nabi (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) has exhorted the Ummah to fast on this day. HadhratAaisha (rahiyallahuanha) reports that Nabi (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) ordered the observance of the fast of Aashura.

  6. One of the blessed day among the days of Allah Subhanua-Ta’alais the 10th of Muharram. It is recommended to observe fasting on this day.

  7. And the Prophet Muhammad sallallahualaiyhiwassallam is reported to have said, “Fasting on the 10th of Muharram clears the sins of the previous year”. Narrated by Muslim

  8. Allah Subhanua-Ta’ala saved believers during these days from the oppressions of Pharoah.

  9. According to Muslim that Ibn Abbas narrated that when the Prophet (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) came to Medina, he (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) found that the Jews were observing fasting on the 10th of Muharram, the Prophet (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) asked them the reason of fasting on this day.

  10. The Jews replied; “This is a great day”. Allah subhanua-ta’ala saved Prophet Musa (alaiyhi salaam) and his followers and sank Pharoah with his people.

  11. The Jews replied; The Prophet Musa (alaiyhi salaam) observed fasting on this day to express his thanks to Allah Subhanua-Ta’ala, and we follow him.

  12. The Prophet Muhammad (SallallahuAlaiyhiWassallam) said: “We are more closer than you to Prophet Musa (Alaiyhi Salaam)”. So He (SallallahuAlaiyhiWassallam) observed fasting on this day and ordered his followers to also observe fasting.

  13. In another version, Narrated by Bukhari, the Prophet (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) said to his companions: “You are more closer to Musa (Alaiyhi Salaam) than the Jews, therefore, you should observe fasting”.

  14. In order to distinguish the difference between Muslim Umma from other people, advised Muslims to fast the 9th of Muharram in addition to the 10th of Muharram. our Prophet (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam)

  15. 9 9th of Muharram 1434 H. Corresponding to 23rd November 2012 G. 10 10th of Muharram 1434 H. Corresponding to 24th November 2012 G. 9th & 10th falls during the forthcoming week i.e. Friday & Saturday (in Saudi Arabia)

  16. According to Ibn Abbas, when the Prophet (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) observed fasting on the 10th of Muharram and He (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) ordered the companions to observe fasting on this day, the companions said, “this is a day that the Jews and Christians celebrate”. The Prophet (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) said: “Next year we will fast the 9th of Muharram Insha-Allah in addition to the 10th of Muharram”. But the Prophet (sallallahualaiyhiwassallam) passed away before the next year.

  17. Verily a believer should be pleased by the victory of the faith in any era and should thank Allah Subhanua-Ta’ala on such victory and also should be sad for any calamities affecting Muslim Umma. At the same time he should have a firm belief that the victory is surely coming as Allah Subhanua-Ta’ala owns the soldiers of the heaven and earth.
