Integrating Environmental Considerations into Poverty Reduction Strategies in Europe and CIS

The UNDP-UNEP Poverty-Environment Initiative (PEI) was launched in December 2008 to promote the integration of environmental considerations into national development agendas in selected countries of Europe and CIS, including Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The initiative aims to create a solid knowledge base linking economic development, poverty, and environmental factors. Key outputs include the development of improved poverty-environment indicators and the integration of these linkages into national development planning and monitoring frameworks.
