CAMPSITE AND FACILITIES Facility • Indoor facility for meal time, shelter, and emergency use • Two air conditioned rooms available for care of sick students at teachers discretion • Public shower and toilet block for student use during the day – cleaned every day • TIG safety vehicle on site at all times • Road access in case of emergency • TIG site third party safety audited Campsite • Private Campsite • 1:20 adult to student sleeping ratio • Plus security guard stationed all night • Extra dry storage area for bags • Large canopy for weather shelter • No students exit the campsite after “lights out” • Portaloos, wash station, and water station available within the campsite for night time use TREASURE ISLAND

KAYAKING • Land based safety brief and teaching session • Instruction on how to correctly enter and exit the water • Dynamic range of on water activities designed to build confidence and develop technique • Two way radio carried with each team • Lifeguard on duty at Pui O beach • 1:8 TIG staff to student ratio • 15 knot wind speed cutoff • ADVENTURE • COMMUNITY • ENVIRONMENT •

  8. GORGING • Students make their way through the San Shek Wan gorge in teams • Students will encounter hand lines, rope ladders, a waterfall, and pools where participants can swim • TIG staff complete a full safety check of the gorge prior to each use • Helmets worn at all times • Two way radios, first aid kit, and cell phone carried with every group • 1:8 TIG staff to student ratio TREASURE ISLAND

RAFTING • In teams students construct a raft from bamboo and tyre tubes. • Focus on working together: communicating and utilising each others strengths. • TIG staff will give guidance on knots and raft construction • PFD’s worn during the rafting race. • 1:8 TIG staff to student ratio. LOW ROPES, GAME OF LIFE, and BEACH OLYMPICS 1:15 TIG staff member to student ratio at all times Low Ropes • Teams work together to complete ropes course challenges. • Focus on cooperation, listening, encouraging and assisting others. Game of Life • A popular “hide and seek” game where students experience life in the wild. • Focus: understanding the food chain, high energy, action. Beach Olympics • Teams • Teachers may offer themselves as additional targets! • ADVENTURE • COMMUNITY • ENVIRONMENT •

BBQ CAMPFIRE DINNER with S’mores • Students cook their own dinner around a campfire • This is a fun and exciting way to learn fire safety and independence • Fully instructed on safe conduct around the BBQ pit • All food is pre-cooked • Fires only lit by TIG staff • 1:15 TIG staff to student ratio TREASURE ISLAND

Twilight Games/Reflections • A series of fun activities designed to highlight all the senses • Reflection time to draw out key learning from the day • Activities run on the TIG base • ADVENTURE • COMMUNITY • ENVIRONMENT •

SAFETY & SUPERVISION • Programme designed in collaboration with the school – feedback from teachers and staff during and post programme applied for continual development • Risk assessment plans are in place for all activities – available for review by the school • Staff are certified outdoor education leaders, and supervised by experienced outdoor trainers • All staff members are certified first aid responders • TIG leaders are trained and assessed as competent for the activities they lead • Strict weather and environmental cutoffs in place • Third-party safety audited by OutdoorsMark (New Zealand) – site, activities, policies & procedures • Supplementary medical insurance for all participants • Wide range of contingency activities available for all programmes to allow for a full experience TREASURE ISLAND
