Receding gums is what happens when the gum tissue surrounding the teeth wears away. This "receding" causes the lesser portion of the tooth to become even more noticeable creating "gaps" to develop between the tooth as well as gum product line. These voids make it possible for contaminants, bacteria, viruses and fungi to grow and flourish in these places, which at that point ruins the tissue and bone tissue structure. Eventually, this triggers teeth to become loosened and eventually fall out.
