Firstly, current mass gainers have made a poor choice in their source of carbohydrates. Mostly all use simple carbs such as Maltodextrin. While Maltodextrin is great if you want to increase weight, they are bad for muscles in the long run. When you eat Maltodextrin rich mass gainers, your body gets a quick boost of energy for a short period of time. The body cannot deal with this sudden rush of energy and stores the carbs as fat. Hence, I recommend using complex carbs instead of simple carbs because they release energy slowly in your blood. This slow release allows for muscle building and not fat gain.
