Execute and adopt 21st century skills to teaching • Creating 21st century learning environment in class • Fostering critical thinking and collaboration in classroom • Facilitate student centered classrooms that encourage self direction and higher order thinking. • And thus making learning conducive for 21st century learners LONG TERM GOALS
Encourage my students to participate in reading / vocabulary competition. • Focus on the writing on different topics to enhance students to be able to write about different topics. • Help students understand the methods especially of be adaptable to write about any topic. SHORT TERM GOALS
Challenges • There may be some students who are weak in writing compositions. • Students may not be able to come up with different types of ideas to write a story. • Parents may think that the topics may be are not creative enough. Solutions • These students will be given extra time and attention to help them. • For these students a lot of ideas will be discussed, to open their minds. • We can have meetings with the parents to find out do they have any other ideas? Maybe they might have brilliant topics to write on. SOLUTIONS TO NEW CHALLENGES
Challenges • Parents will not understand my teaching strategies • The head mistress may not support my new approach • There are students of heterogeneous intellectual levels in my class Solutions • Parents will be sent news letters and a pre emptive (beginning of the session) parent teacher meeting will help parents understand the importance of complying with the new teaching methodology • Through a discussion meeting based on the designed curriculum the head mistress will be acquainted with the necessity and effectiveness of the new teaching methodology • Individualized instructions will be given to slow learners. Plus an after school extra learning support class will help them catch up with the curriculum SOLUTIONS TO NEW CHALLENGES
Challenges • Computer lab and audio visual room might not be available for all the sections • Time constraint may hinder the execution of interactive activities • Computers might not be available all the time Solutions • Prior permission will be taken from the lab in charge and the availability shall be confirmed a week prior to the class • P.E.Periods and library periods can be utilized on the alternative basis. • The teachers and students will bring their own laptops, ipods and phones for the presentation SOLUTIONS TO NEW CHALLENGES
I would make sure I adopt the student-centered approach so that the students can participate in more group discussions, share ideas, and understand the topics easily . • I will try to make my students more confident to use a higher level of vocabulary. • I will try to have as much as brainstorming possible before letting the students write their Urdu compositions. I would give assignments on social problems on which my students will make mobile videos and present them in the class-I will encourage them to create, innovate and come up with their own ideas • To promote students to read correct Urdu and speak it fluently I assigned will have some time for short story recitals. • I will encourage my students and will try to give them choices in their assignments. By implementing my newly acquired teachings techniques and approaches I can empower my students and they will be able to gain a better knowledge of reading and writing skills. CONCLUSIONS
