Kharif 2013 & Rabi 2013-14 Achievements (Abstract) (Lakhs tones) NOTE: This year the food grain production as per 2nd advance estimate of DES is 207.29 LMTs, which will be the ever highest in the state after 2008-09 (204.21LMTs). But this year we may achieve a record food grain production of 216.71 LMTs.

STRATEGIES FOR MARKETING INTERVENTIONS To promote ‘Income generation’ of Farm families through “Better market price realization” following strategies are being adopted. • Market driven crops and suitable varieties according to local situations • Encouraging procurement through Government agencies or Cooperatives. • Reducing the cost of production 8

OBJECTIVE FOR MARKETING INTERVENTIONS • Objective of market intervention is to protect the interest of the farmers in the sale of agricultural produce, to ensure remunerative price and to protect them from the clutches of unscrupulous traders • In view of the unstable market prices during peak season due to excess production, A.P. government is intervening through Nodal agencies like NAFED, APMARKFED, APOILFED for procurement of cereals, coarse grains, pulses and oil seeds under MSP operations • When ever there is glut situation, the commodities which are not covered under MSP operations are being procured through nodal agency like APMARKFED under MIS operations.

  12. COORDINATION WITH SFAC/NGOS FOR PROMOTION OF PULSES • SFAC identified the following NGOs for capacity building to organize FPOs, investment and market linkage . • Access Livelihoods Consulting India • Vrutti Livelihood Resource Centre • Indian Society of Agri Business Professionals 13

RYTHU BANDHU PATHAKAM (PLEDGE LOAN SCHEME) • Apart from the above operations Government of A.P. is also implementing Rythu Bandhu Pathakam ( Pledge Loan Scheme ) through Agricultural Marketing department to provide Loans to the farmers against pledge of their Agricultural Produce. to prevent farmers from resorting to distress sale • The farmers will be paid an advance amount limited to 75 % of the value of the Produce pledged with Agricultural Market Committee subject to a ceiling of Rs.1,00,000/- per farmer • Interest will not be charged on the loans sanctioned under Rythu Bandhu Pathakam for the first 90 days from the date of sanction of Loan Year Amount of loan given No. of Farmers (Rs. in Crores) Benefited 2005-2006 38 11705 2006-2007 31 16566 2007-2008 12 3075 2008-2009 23 5404 2009-2010 08 2049 2010-2011 13 3024 2011-2012 18 1362 2012-2013 16 2815
