Silica Gel Catalysts When used as catalyst carrier, silica gel is usually immersed in the solution containing catalytic active components to make the solution absorbed in the pores of silica gel, and the active components are distributed on the surface of silica gel through drying, activation and other procedures. The pore structure of silica gel has an important influence on the properties of supported catalysts, such as pore volume and pore size distribution of silica gel.

  4. Silica sol The colloidal suspension is stabilized by pH adjustment and then concentrated, usually by evaporation. The maximum concentration obtainable depends on the on particle size. For example, 50 nm particles can be concentrated to greater than 50 wt% solids while 10 nm particles can only be concentrated to approximately 30 wt% solids before the suspension becomes too unstable.

  5. Alumina Silica Gel Aluminum Silica gel - light yellow, chemically stable, flame-resistant, insoluble except in alkali or hydrofluoric acid. Superficial polarity, thermal stability, performance greater than fine-pored silica gel. It is mainly used for catalysts and catalyst carriers in petrochemical industry, industrial dryers, liquid adsorbents and gas separation.
