  3. Policy Definition • Legislative action • Regulatory process • Day-to-day policy and procedures • Implementation of policy at all levels throughout the state • Includes obtaining, allocating or re-allocating resources (people, time, money)

  4. Policy Summit Agenda • Overview disability policy framework • Discuss policy issues from national perspective • Discuss policy implications of Alaska data and research • Policy work group discussion • Reports and next steps discussion

Process Used • Discuss Alaska policy in relation to identified issues • Identify and discuss any other issues not previously raised • Determine whether current policy is supportive, inhibiting, neutral or non-existent • In relation to disability policy framework • In relation to data and research findings

Process Used (continued) • Determine need for change in current policy or if new policy is needed • Generate policy options • Use priority grid to rate each option • Positive impact on services • Cost savings • Resources available to implement • Doable/can be accomplished in reasonable amount of time • Advances disability policy framework • Fits with what data and research tells us
