  1. Difference between procurement and purchasing? Procurement is the process of obtaining raw materials/products, services for business and can also involve processes such as negitiating, agreeing on the delivery details, quality and quantity. Purchasing is a process of acquiring the goods which the company wants and includes processes such as ordering expediting, receiving and fullfilling. Procurement is a larger set of activities than purchasing for large scale operations procurement can be prefered as it allows higher level of customization in the quality. quantity, time of delivery, transport, and various other factors. whereas in purchasing the product is delivered at a time which is comfortable for the retailer or manufacturer. The processes for procurement are pre-planned and take place before during and after the purchase whereas delivery is a straightforward process. Procurement is mostly done in a production environment and purchasing is done in wholesale environment.
