  3. Sections • Classroom Section • Group or individual assignments • Computer Section • Online applets • In-class work is 20% of grade.

  4. Midterms 2 midterms • Closed book. • Worksheet problems are the best model for the types of question to expect. Test 1 Friday Week 4 – covers chapters 1-3 of the textbook Test 2 Friday Week 8 – covers chapters 4-6 of the textbook Final (cumulative)

  5. How I would pass PSTAT 5A • Go to lectures to get the idea. • Go over exercises and readings before classroom section. Work with a friend. • Ask questions of your TA in section. • Don’t miss sections. • Stay current with the material. • Don’t miss midterms.

  6. How do you get help? • Ask TA in section about the material • My office hour for help with the class • CLAS is great • Classmates are available • Approved tutors http://www.pstat.ucsb.edu/projects/leadtatraining/tutoring.htm Buyer beware with some outside tutors

  7. Academic Honesty • You must complete worksheets in your section. • Exam work is expected to be your own. If you are found to have cheated this is a very serious offense, and at a minimum will result in your receiving an F in this class.
